Half Calf

Picture this: you are happily seated in the Salon Shoe section of your favorite department store...the sales clerk has brought you a gorgeous pair of zip-up leather boots and quelle surprise--they do not zip up! At this point you have two choices, you can: a) leave the country and change your name to Holly Mortified or, b) purchase the alternate pair of pull on/no-zip lovelies below.

This pair of over-the-knee boots are suede-esque and easy to pull on and off. You can find a pair here for less than $40.00, leaving you with funds for several lattes and/or margaritas--your choice. If you are looking for a more traditional boot, allow me to introduce you to this pair:

These tall boots are a perfect and sexy example of a shoe that can be worn to breakfast, lunch, dinner and beyond. The soles of these boots are made of a tread-like surface, making walking in these sky-high shoes a dream! Find yourself a pair from Marciano here. At last, no need to struggle with a boot zipper that is clearly "malfunctioning", "made wrong" or "broken".

To: You From: Him, with Love

(Please forward this post to a special someone to insure Holiday gift-giving success).

Hello Gentlemen. Congratulations, you are one step ahead for doing some present-research. I understand your situation and I agree with you: women are not easy to shop for. Fear not, I have found a few gift ideas that are no-fail choices. This is the year you leave behind the notion that "its the thought that counts" and achieve: Champion. Gift. Giving. Status.

The gorgeous bracelet below is a classic piece and will delight any recipient. You can order her one here from Bauble Bar for $240. I promise she will love it, and it's easy to wrap! What could be better?

She would be thrilled to receive the fun and sparkly pouch below. Find one here by Kate Spade for $75.00. (For bonus points, stash a loaded Starbucks card inside. What girl doesn't love a gift within a gift?)

The lush sweater below from Anthropolgie is timeless and would go with anything in her wardrobe. Order one for her here. She will look beautiful in this satin-lined coat.

If you are feeling particularly spirited (and generous), the earrings below by Michael Ases are to-die-for. She would like anything from this collection. Pick your favorite and order her a pair here.

Happy holidays and best of luck gentlemen--I have a sneaking suspicion she is going to be quite happy with her gift this year...

Top Coat

It's time to beef up your fashion wishlist for Fall. It's time to buy a new coat. It's time for a coat with some color! (Not to be confused with a coat of many colors). A statement coat is a fresh way to get some compliMINTS and update a predictable cold-weather outfit. Do not pass Go, do not collect $200, Do not buy another black jacket.

This gorgeous retro-styled coat from Zara looks fantastic with leggings, tights or jeans. You can find one here for $159 . (If item is no longer available online, call up a store and order one tout de suite).

Look for something with a good shape--avoid anything that does not nip in at the waist. This beauty from J.Crew is flattering and will make you feel glamorous. Order one here.

If you have been particularly good this year, you deserve this cream dream coat from Nanette Lepore. Treat yourself to one here. The cut is timeless and will look good this Season and the next, and the next. See now, who says I don't worry about Investments?

Hoop! (There It Is)

You can't help but feel a bit of a sass in your step when you're wearing a hoop. It's true. Cleopatra and J.Lo wouldn't steer you wrong in the style department, would they? I thought not. Here are a few special options vying for your attention:

The pair below by Dana Kellin can be found here for those of us who deserve a special treat.

The silver tone of the hoops below looks perfectly elegant and would be fabulous in photos. One great profile shot for your social media site and poof!--they've paid for themselves. These beauties are by Adriana Orsina, buy a pair here.

The beautiful pair of hoops below are a steal and can be found at Arden B. for less than $25. (In the business, this is called, a no-brainer). Grab yourself a pair here.

Too big of a hoop can leave you looking (and feeling) a bit costumey. Think fresh and with it, not the Chiquita Banana Lady. In a pair of good hoops you are the epitome of Cool--people will assume that the music blasting in your car has a good beat and is ridiculously current. If you're unsure about how big of a hoop to wear, make an 'O' shape with your thumb and middle finger. This circumference should represent the largest hoop that you can get away with. In most cases, its better to go thinner rather than anything too big or chunky. Do not be afraid of a hoop looking "too young". Plenty of mature and stylish ladies are wearing hoops. A nice shiny earring with a bit of detail can brighten your face and make a shorter haircut look fantastic. Go ahead, hoop it up.
